ROUND TABLE OF THE FEDERATION COUNCIL COMMITTEE

21/04/2025 Leonid Karpov participated in the round table meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Construction “Development of the legal profession as the main platform for consolidating the legal profession”, organized by the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Construction, held in the Federation Council.

The meeting was attended by senators, representatives of the legal, scientific and expert communities. The main topic of discussion was the reform of the institute of the bar, or rather, the unification of all judicial representatives and the assignment of the status of lawyers to them. The difficulties and almost insoluble problems associated with this were identified, but most of the participants of the event were optimistic about their solution. The only clear conclusion was that the concept of “lawyer’s monopoly” should be abandoned in favor of community, consolidation and professionalization of judicial representation.
