«PROSPECTS FOR PROFESSIONALIZATION OF JUDICIAL REPRESENTATION»

14/10/2025 Leonid Karpov took part in the roundtable meeting «Prospects for Professionalization of Judicial Representation», organized by the Commissioner for the Protection of Business Rights in the City of Moscow.

 

Representatives of the Ministry of Justice, representatives of the legal community, leading law schools, and legal business leaders were invited to participate in the meeting.

 

The participants of the discussion tried to find out whether the «lawyer’s monopoly» would protect citizens from unscrupulous lawyers and improve the quality of legal services, or whether it would become a barrier to access to justice.

 

The arguments of supporters and opponents of the reform were quite compelling. The pros and cons were weighed, and an attempt was made to develop a consolidated position. At the moment, the position is that the proposed version of the bill has many flaws and needs to be revised.
