On 07/11/2017 the famous journalist Andrei Karaulov released an investigative documentary on the life, work, and circumstances of recent arrest of the deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) Oleg Korshunov.

Korshunov’s attorney Alexander Linnikov was interviewed for the film. The defense counsel expressed his properly motivated opinion on the events in question. According to Linnikov, the criminal case against Korshunov is a totally outrageous and unexplainable thing. The attorney emphasized the complete lack of evidence, preposterous nature of the charges, and clearly explained the total worthlessness of materials presented by the investigators to justify Korshunov’s arrest.

Besides Alexander Linnikov, the author of the film invited well-known journalists and public figures with good knowledge of the practices of the FSIN to speak the truth about Oleg Korshunov and his work.

On 11/07/2017, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the arrest of Oleg Korshunov, despite all the requirements of the law, jurisprudence, and even basic common sense. This confirms Andrei Karaulov’s assumption on the unjust and biased prosecution of the ex-FSIN vice-director. Korshunov’s defense is highly disappointed by the decision of the Basmanny Court and is going to challenge it at appeal.
